Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2

Tom's Review: Steak is great, hamburgers are good, but sometimes a big ol' mess of chili is just fine, too. Red Alert 2 is the chili of RTS games: it is loose and sloppy and there's a whole lot of stuff in it. It's a profoundly dumb game in many regards -- AI, storyline, interface, cutscenes -- but as far as dumb games go, it's one of my favorites.

Mark's Review: I'm pretty sure that Westwood had a mid-life crisis, moved to a grungy villa in Mexico, and attempted to write the Great American Novel, because the makers of a truly great classic like Command and Conquer surely didn't make Tiberian Sun. Fortunately, Westwood drank the water at the Villa, shelved the novel, and returned home, because with Red Alert 2 they are back doing what they do best — simple RTS that's fun to play. I do wish the cutscenes were a bit better, though.
