Crossroads and Warcry to merge

Publisher and developer WarCry Corporation and Crossroads Gaming Network announced that they plan on merging in a stock for stock swap. Warcry will have a controlling interest in the company.

Crossroads is a network of sites dedicated to massively multiplayer games, so this is an unusual arrangement. Game companies don't normally operate editorial sites. Warcry commented on that arrangement in their press release:

WarCry intends to leave editorial control over the content of the Crossroads Network where it belongs: In the proven hands of the network's leadership and site managers,

Warcry "brings together gamers and game developers, empowering developers to create, promote, and distribute their titles while allowing the gamer to be part of the process of game development" according to their press release.

Currently they have some arcadish games available for play, but they have a MMORPG in the works. We assume that they hope to funnel Crossroads' readership to their games, especially the MMORPG title when it's ready.

Warhammer Online screenshots

Eurogamer has the first ever screenshots of this online game set in the Warhammer universe. We don't much about this one, but the Warhammer universe is a nicely fleshed out backdrop for a game.

Eidos writes off net venture loss

Eidos had a $55 million stake in Express.com, which went into Chapter 11 proceedings March 7th, according to a news story on Yahoo. According to Eidos, they had already accounted for this loss so they claim it will not affect their operations.

Eidos can pick 'em, can't they? First Ion Storm and then Express.com.
