Storm over in Dallas?

We're hearing rumors that Eidos may be shutting down the Dallas Ion Storm office.

Eidos posted financial results yesterday showing a slimmer than expected profit and their stock price plummetted. Companies usually like to go on cost-cutting hunts when announce poor results, so there may be some fire behind this smoke. If true, where does that leave Anachronox, though?

Correction: We originally stated that Eidos lost money in their most recent quarter. This was a mistake. We edited this brief story to correct this.

So you want to write about games? Here's a sample of the email one reviewer received when he had the temerity to give The Legend of Dragoon a 5/10.

Some entertaining stuff in an article entitled The Legend of Dragoon: A Game Critics Nightmare at Gamecritics.

Videogame blamed in violent shooting spree

Will the madness ever end? Let's hope not, because the Onion is pretty funny, as evidenced by this article about a giant robot who took the mechanical lives of 13 other giant robots.

Witnesses said the robot, who was experiencing failing grades in the Arena and was said to be several thousand credits in debt, appeared to be under "great strain" at the time of the multiple robocide. The robot, one witness said, displayed an "almost mechanical lack of emotion" during the four-and-a-half-minute shooting spree, gunning down his fellow robots, as well as several fortified laser-gun stations and a number of unmanned drones, with "inhuman" precision.

"He was like a machine, programmed to kill without hesitation or remorse," said DTD-35667C, a 44-year-old robot injured in the attack.

Thank's to that Beatdown guy, Andrew Bub, for pointing this out.

Snowball to do a reverse stock split?

Fuckedcompany has this little blurb about Snowball, owners of IGN:

SnowBall.com - Reversal: I'm not one to report on stock market stuff, but Snowball.com, which has been lingering around $1, is gonna do the ol' 3-for-1 reverse stock split. A sure sign that their days are numbered...

If they are doing a reverse split, it's probably to keep from being delisted. One of the problems with boosting your stock price this way is that you give it more room to fall once again. It's trading at $0.41 a share as of this writing.

Is she extra jiggly or something?

Film rumor site Dark Horizons has some interesting tidbits about the upcoming Final Fantasy movie, including the information that one-quarter of the computing power used to create the CG shots was devoted to lead female character Aki.

3am

Spotted at Stomped. Don't know if it's true, but funny for the "All your base" crowed nonetheless.

Want to get shouted at? The Conquest Frontier Wars fan page at StrategyPlanet has an interview with Eric Peterson, excuse me, that's ERIC PETERSON THE PRODUCER/DESIGNER ON CONQUEST FRONTIER WARS. For some reason all of Mr. Peterson's answers are in all caps. I GUESS THAT'S BECAUSE CONQUEST IS GOING TO BE A KICK ASS GAME OR SOMETHING!!!!!!! WE KNOW THIS BECAUSE OTHERWISE THE USE OF ALL CAPS WOULD BE INAPPROPRIATE, AS WOULD MULTIPLE EXCLAMATION MARKS WHICH DON'T ACTUALLY APPEAR IN THE INTERVIEW BUT WHICH I'M USING NOW BECAUSE I'M ALL TINGLY WITH EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!

Correction: We misidentified Eric Peterson as Eric Roberts. Eric Roberts is apparently our unique creation. We were overexcited by all the capitalization.
