Titanfall 2’s newest addition should be familiar to fans

, | News

Monarch’s Reign, the next free DLC update for Titanfall 2, features a new multiplayer mech that players of the single player campaign should recognize. The Monarch is a “reverse-engineered” version of the Vanguard Titan, the same model of robo-buddy the player character bonds with in the story. Will the Monarch be as lovably snarky as “BT” is in the solo game? Likely not, but players can always recite deadpan lines in their heads if they’re feeling lonely. The update will also come with the usual array of cosmetic items to buy, a revamped version of the Relic map from the first game, and fixes for existing maps.

Monarch’s Reign will be released on May 30th, just in time to miss the long weekend!

New maps may be free, but Titanfall 2 still has to make money somehow

, | News

Earlier in the year, developer Respawn and publisher Activision announced that all map and game mode content added to Titanfall 2 post-launch would be free for all players. This was welcome news. One of the big issues with Titanfall’s multiplayer was that once the map packs rolled out, the community was split into smaller groups of haves and have-nots each time. It’s a problem for any multiplayer game that clings to the map pack DLC model unless it’s Call of Duty and has a core of players willing to loyally buy each installment.

Respawn has announced that the first free post-launch map release will be a remastered version of Angel City. It was fan-favorite in it’s original incarnation, so remaking the map for the sequel is an easy win. It’s coming sometime in December.

Along with that news, we have official confirmation of how Respawn intends to fund post-launch support. It’s cosmetic DLC!

These items will be available for purchase, but as always, gameplay is first here at Respawn and they will in no way impact the gameplay.

Fashion-forward players can pay for everyone else’s spot on the servers. It’s a win-win! Titanfall 2 is launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28th.

Show your spicy hot wing love in Titanfall 2

That image is something you may see in your Titanfall 2 multiplayer game. Buffalo Wild Wings will be offering codes for exclusive in-game “nose art” to decorate your mechs. Amble over to your local wingery starting on October 28th to November 30th and you can grab some cosmetic DLC with your bourbon honey chicken wings. Oh, but the cross-promotional fun doesn’t stop there!

In addition, Buffalo Wild Wings will feature Titanfall 2 branding and game imagery on takeout boxes, napkins, as well as a co-branded Mountain Dew, Buffalo Wild Wings Collector’s Edition 32 ounce takeout cup.

Finger licking! Titanfall 2 launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on October 28th.

Titanfall 2 ups the ante by bringing a sword to a giant mecha fight

Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Respawn Entertainment are teasing Titanfall 2. It’s a jungle, robot legs, a drop pod, and a gloriously large robot-sword. Is there anything less practical in futuristic warfare than hand-to-hand weapons being used by giant mechs? Not if decades of science fiction movies have taught me right!

Titanfall 2 will be shown during Electronic Arts’ EA Play event that will happen on June 12th.
