I loved Donaghy's subway appeal for help this week. That rang so true. In just my first few days in NYC, I saw three people interrupt subway rides like that, and the response was mostly like Jack got.

Bleh. I already hated Jenna, now they're ruining Tracy by always pairing those two up.

Tracy was once not ruined? I've always hated his character. The only good thing about pairing Jenna and him up is that it gets rid of both their screen times at once.

I liked him when he was just crazy because he's crazy. "I AM A JEDI!" Now they kinda just roll him in with Jenna's narcissistic paranoia schtick but with slightly goofier lines occasionally.

It really pains me that they gave the best line of last week's show to Tracy when he's explaining why he can't tell the strip club story on account of little Tracy's being there.
"...but I can't tell you because this little D-bag is here." "I KNOW what that means." "And yet you won't tell me!" |

When this season started, I was actually kind of afraid that the show would become stale, or finally run out of funny ideas. It's a big danger when a show is this over-the-top and out there sometimes. But I just caught up on two episodes (still haven't seen this week's episode yet) yesterday, and I must say they've really captured my interest again this season. First there's the new cast member.
I totally didn't see it coming that they hired..... who they hired (no spoilers, in case someone else hasn't seen that episode yet, and that was a great reveal). And then, in the next episode, I loved the Liz Lemon vs Jack Donaughy (sp?) relationship/friendship/rivalry explored. It was absolutely pitch perfect and so well done. I actually loved both characters in that episode, even though I've come to dislike Liz Lemon quite a bit over the course of the show. Just when I thought I was out..... they pull me back in. |

Not even the most consistently funny NBC Thursday night sitcom (I'm looking at you Parks and Rec). I thought last night's show was great all the way until the end, where it just kind of fell apart. I'll give it a 8.5 out of 10.

Loved the HD camera gag.
Parks and Rec has gotten better, and at times is pretty good, but for me it is still the weakest link in the NBC Thursday lineup. |

The HD gag was brilliant, as was Frank as Liz.

My favorite was Liz's Norman Osborn/Green Goblin mirror dialogue. Also, you can never have too much Dr. Spaceman; he makes Dr. Nick look like House.

I guess Jack won't be responsible for Microwave programming any more since GE sold NBC to Comcast. I wonder if they'll work that in to the show.

Great episode all around. If you'd described the part about Liz crying to me I would have thought it'd be one of the stupider jokes in the episode, but I couldn't stop laughing at that.

HD gag was the best for me - I literally had to pause it after the muppet made his way bobbing through with a big old smile to the audience to catch my breath. |

I read an online excerpt from a recent interview of Alec Baldwin, and he's petitioning the writers to have Jack barricade himself in his office and refuse to take orders from anyone at Comcast. We'll see if this works itself into the story. Sorry for the spoiler if it does! |

The HD version of Jack passed so quickly I couldn't tell whether they hired an actor who looked sort of like a younger version of him or whether they might have spliced in some footage of him from long ago. May have to check it again in slo-mo. Any idea?

It looked like a CG render to me.

Looked to me like it was young Alec Baldwin, circa Hunt for Red October. It did have a bit of a CG look to it but I think that was due to the image splicing and the lighting of his face not matching the background, not because the face was rendered.

I thought maybe they'd go with a different Baldwin, that would've been pretty funny too.

I've been giggling to myself all day about him having Liz read him the first line from that letter from the AMA or whoever it was, informing him that they don't print pornographic cartoons. So we learned two new things about Spaceman - that he submits pornographic cartoons to medical journals, and that he's apparently illiterate.

Well, I wouldn't say illiterate. He could read Lasig.
But he does clearly have a hard time coping with rejection. |

Pretty sure it was footage pulled from one of Baldwin's early movies.

It's from Red October... that movie is specifically called out in the credits.
You guys forget that Alec was the up-and-coming male sex symbol back then. |

I wouldn't call him it and coming, I would say that he was a pretty popular leading man in the late 80s-early 90s. Young leading men tend to have an expiration date, but he managed to reinvent himself with 30 Rock.
