10:11 am Pacific Time. Police and emergency vehicles are massed outside a Boston hotel. We are being told that a room is being searched.

All I can think of is the moment in the documentary "One Day In September" where a group of German police (I think) prepared to storm the terrorists. Camera crews filmed them as they prepared, crawling over the roof, creeping up on the terrorists. Media outlets broadcast the images. And the terrorists were prepared because they were watching tv.

What is the break even point in our need to know?

I had exactly this thought yesterday when they were broadcasting the fact that warrants were going to be served in Miami and Boston. Why do I need to know this? Arrest the guys and tell me later.

Either it was leaked or the government wanted news out as soon as possible that we were making progress with the investigation. You can imagine that the pressure to take action and produce tangible results is extremely high right now.

My wife claims there was a 20 minute delay on that report guys. I can't confirm that, but she swears that the "Live" graphic was explained away by newscasters when it first aired.
