Pretty low odds that either was involved... unless Fox news was in the building or something - I have no clue about that. However, I just wanted to check on them. Left a message on her cell phone to come here and post a "we're ok" report.

If you know status on them, or anybody else we know from NYC, post it here.

Thank you all for your concern and support for both Peter and me. The events of yesterday are still kind of numbing, and we have received an endless stream of e-mails and phone calls, in the cases where calls have actually gone through.

Though we live a safe distance from downtown, I was actually there and shared a first-hand experience of the events. But I wanted to let everyone know that while we are both still shaken we are otherwise unhurt and will fully recover.

Thank you again for your overwhelming concern.

Cheers,
Enid Burns and Peter Suciu

Thanks Enid. I just talked to Gamepen Dan, and he let me know just a minute ago that you guys were cool. It just took a while to get this page to refresh. My god, this board is slow.

Just wasn't sure if you guys worked in the area or what.

When you're ready to talk about it, I think we'd all appreciate hearing the circumstances of your first-hand experience with this thing.

I have actually been working across the street from the world trade center, and was on the subway when the first plane crashed. Peter called my cell phone when I got off the subway and was in the concourse level of the world trade center to find out if I was all right. The stores were closed already, and I could smell smoke. When I got to street level there was debris everywhere, I hurried across the parking area and told two people who were looking at the building to keep moving. We ran across the street, and as I was running to the entrance of my building, the second plane crashed. I could hear objects falling around me, but was not hit.

I briefly went to my office and headed back down the stairs with everyone from the building. I stuck with two coworkers and started to walk east to go around the buildings. Everyone was doing the same, just trying to go. We saw people walking across the bridges to Brooklyn, and plenty more just heading uptown.

At some point we stopped at a diner to sit and have something to eat. That was when the first building collapsed. Soon after we left, we were still in sight of the building and watched the second tower collapse. All this time, I could not get a call out on my cell phone, though Peter was occasionally able to call me, and we agreed to meet at my dads office.

The atmosphere was very surreal. It felt like we were refugees walking out of a war zone. I definitely felt a need to just keep moving. I finally made it with my coworkers to my fathers office around noon, and once we made a few phone calls, went in different directions. Peter and I avoided Times Square on the walk home, a place where we normally enjoy walking through. We were trying to avoid extremely crowded areas.

Even a few miles out, there have been constant sirens of police and emergency vehicles throughout yesterday, last night and this morning. We have also heard a few planes overhead and can only assume they are military.

Today, I think New York will be at a stand still, but I think other than the immediate area of the world trade center, things will probably be back to operations in the next few days.

Again, thank you all for your support. And I apologize for the long post. I am lucky that I was really so unharmed in this event.
