I don't know if anyone else has seen this, but somewhat ominously, there's a message dated August 29th on the official site talking about how the patch is still in "development."
That sounds an awful lot like: "we know you were expecting to get the patch this week, but that just isn't gonna happen" if I've ever heard it.
I'll see if I can get in touch with the folks at Sierra (or Troika) today and I'll post again if I get any news.

It wasn't meant to be obnoxious - I was simply pointing out that the end of the post seemed to make a pretty good case for including the link, which answered the original question.

There was some additional information released on this point -- while the patch was supposed to be released a couple of days ago, apparently it's still be worked on because additional problems were found.
The Troika guys have said, as Robert indicated, that the patch won't invalidate saves, but if you're just starting the game I'd still wait for the patch -- until the patch is released, that can't be assured, but more importantly, it will likely not retroactively fix problems that have already been created.
