It looks like Eidos has been discharged from the 5 billion dollar lawsuit that the victims of the Colorado massacre filed just two months ago. Colorado's chief judge ordered the case be dismissed, becase the game the killers were playing, final fantasy did not have guns. AOL Time Warner, Sega, Sony and the other 25 game companies still face the $5 billion dollar lawsuit.
At least Eidos escaped this rediciolus lawsuit, but in a way it bothers me that the only way there case was dismissed was because Final Fantasy didn't have guns in the game. This is rediciolus!! What about the other game companies? Especially Atari, nintendo and AOL. Are they trying to tell us that if it wasn't for frekin duck hunt and mario brothers that Columbine wouldn't have happened.
It's a shame that Columbine happened, but to put the blame on the entertainment industry is just wrong. These people suing the gaming companies aren't going to see a dime. Imagine if they did win or at least got a portoin of what they are after? Whould this change the way games, movies and music are made? Why make a violent movie or game if you run the chance of getting sued? And what about the bible? It has violent content, right? Maybe we should burn all the bibles in America.

Abdication of personal responsibility --
It MUST be someone else's fault.

Umm, maybe I'm misremembering, but I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy had guns. There was a character in FFVII (?) named Barrett who could attach different kinds of guns to his arm.
Maybe the judge should have actually *played* the game before throwing the lawsuit out. Sheesh.

Yeah, Barrett in FF7 did indeed use guns. As did some of the bad guys IIRC.

I thought so. But, then, if they didn't specifically mention which FF game they were playing -- I believe FF7 was the only one with guns. But, yeah, it definitely had them.

Yep, let's put the blame where it belongs: The American News Media.
