Man, am I glad to see these two news items. Of course, having both in the same day is almost too much to handle.

Mechwarrior, if done "non-cheesy" would make an excellent sci-fi show. They have a complete political climate and a very well defined fiction base to draw from, so this shouldn't be a problem. Gosh, I hope they keep it on an adult level and not a "prime time cartoon" show.

As for Robotech... well, I grew up hooked on Invid crack. I much prefer Macross to the over-extended Harmony-Gold version, but I'll take what I can get.

Now, can we please have a Heavy Gear tv show? They were talking about a saturday morning thing, and I even saw toys that were in development for it. Where IS it?

The fact that the Mechwarrior show will be a 1 hour live action program is a surprise. I think everybody was under the impression it would be a fully CGI series. I'm curious how it will turn out, but I'm skeptical it'll every make it into somebody's schedule.

Jim, I check Bad Karma's Mecha News for news. There is news there of the Heavy Gear series.

"The Heavy Gear show is still on its way. Back in 1999 it was reported that Dream Pod 9's popular robotic role playing game was to receive an Animated Series from Sony Pictures, with Mainframe Entertainment in charge of producing the computer-generated footage for the show. In an update, there has been some delays with the previously announced release dates (January-February 2001), but the show is still set to appear this year in the US on a major network. In the meantime, Mainframe keeps churning out new episodes, having passed the halfway mark of the 40-episode series. The show has recently debuted in Australia, even though it is being produced in North America."

Whoohooo! I was just lamenting the fact that there are no decent Robotech games. And wonder why the heck nobody is making any.

I thought I'd dig this thread up just to let everyone know that Robotech's first 12 episodes are out on DVD. Boxed set with a 3rd dvd full of extras, or individually.

Ugh, I just had a flashback of that awful film Robot Jox.

As for Robotech games, I think TDK picked up a license. Of course, I'm still wondering what genre would be the most interesting.

Well, Macross had the most premium robot thrashing. Southern Cross was kinda lame, and Mospeada was RIGHT OUT. I don't want to be a transforming motorcycle, thanks.
