This may or may not be a sign of things to come but GameSpy has closed www.tacticalplanet.com and consolidated the content of some of their other affiliates.

"GameSpy has decided to close TacticalPlanet and consolidate its coverage at StrategyPlanet and 3DActionPlanet. The tactical genre has gotten smaller and many of these games were already covered at the other sites. We also feel that TacticalPlanet's hosted sites would be better served by the greater visibility these larger genre sites could offer."

GameSpy is one of my personal favourite games news sites. The question is - are they still making money ?

I have no idea about Gamespy's profitability, but I like the consolidation. They have too many sites. It's too confusing. Just look at our own solar system. We have nine planets -- or is it ten? See, I get confused with even a small number of planets. Gamespy shouldn't have more planet sites than we have actual planets, which would mean no more than nine, or maybe ten, or maybe eleven if you want to count all those asteroids between Mars and Jupiter as a former planet.

Mark, you think too much. Personally, I hate them. Not only did they take my job after saying, "we're buying Mplayer for the people," but their fansites often misrepresent the truth, or post complete falsities. For all I care, they can go out of business.
