Obara raped 200 women - diary
Jon Herskovitz
TOKYO - Joji Obara had money to burn, a passion for tailored suits and expensive cars, and a habit of speaking impeccable English to foreign bar hostesses in Tokyo night-spots.
But the disappearance of Briton Lucie Blackman led police to his door and he goes back on trial on Tuesday for rape.
Obara allegedly kept a list of 60 different aliases along with the names of the women to whom he gave the names.
Obara could turn out to be one of Japan's, and perhaps the world's, worst serial rapists, a man who may have preyed on the women of Tokyo's upscale entertainment spots and used his privilege to avoid investigation for more than a decade.
