Just wondering if anyone else has tried it? It's really quite a bit of fun and doesn't really cost more than a computer game if you can restrain yourself from buying a lot of booster packs.

The starter set is 15-$16 and the boosters, which have 5 minis, are $6.50. The rules are pretty simple too.

Never played it. But considering I also started by only buying a couple of starters and boosters in MtG and ended up with a few thousand dollars worth of cards and Magic booster boxes lying everywhere (one of the signs that you have truly gone over the edge ), I think I'll stay clear of it. ;-)

Thanks for providing the link though. It makes for interesting reading.

Fortunately, I don't think they can churn out Mage Knight expansions as quickly as they can Magic cards. The figures are all hand-painted.

I didn't mention this, but they're rubberized plastic as well. This is nice because they're lighter and more durable. Lead miniatures break pretty easily.

A couple of people from InsomniaX are playing it... mainly Led Mirage and TankGirl. They say it's quite an interesting little game too. Ah, if only Citadel had done this with Warhammer 40,000... I'd still be playing my beloved Tyrranids. (As it stands, I'd be spending about $1200 to field my army in pewter)

For me, having the miniatures pre-painted is all the difference. I was always interested in Warhammer and Battletech, but after spending a couple of years playing D&D and painting hundreds of Ral Partha minis, I was burned out on painting another set.

The Mage Knight paint jobs are not very good, but they're still worlds better than unpainted minis. Some people touch them up, painting belts and whatnot.

The other nice thing is the dial in the stand means you don't have to keep track of hit points and flip through rule books all the time. It really is quite clever.
