"And in response to requests from female players, Asheron's Call endowed its characters with two new abilities: curtsying and wearing dresses, according to Dave Namerow, the online community manager at Turbine Entertainment."
Is this true? That whole article was possibly the scariest thing I have ever read in any medium. It makes me want to quit gaming.

Heh -- yeah, I remember reading about when they patched in the dresses. One of the first complaints was from a female gamer about the dresses being too sexy. "You're objectifying us!"
Of course in UO you can bow, and players have used repeated bows to simulate a female character performing oral sex on a male character.
And that's enough to make me want to quit gaming. :)

Don't even call it gaming. To me, gaming involves goals, measurable performance, and competition. It isn't even a "software toy" like SimCity, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and their progeny. These folks have every right to enjoy themselves how they choose, but I think they have reduced the game to a glorified chat room.
I never thought I would do it, but I am now rooting for the 14-year-old l337 PKers, hoping they will descend on this gathering like the horde of criminals descended on Rock Ridge. "Have you ever seen such cruelty?"
While I'm at it, please remove all subjectively-judged events from the Olympics.

Supertanker, you are my personal hero. But how about this one?

Oh yes my friends. OH YES. This is the future of MMORPGs.

Heh -- they're obviously going for the kiddie market. I wonder if they're trying to cash in on those Brian Jaques novels that are popular with kids?

Actually women are from Ultima 9. Pretty, sadly broken logic routines, and frustrating in the extreme.

Too bad there's no patch. (At least Ultima 9 was fairly healthy upon the latest patch!)

no, I just checked it out. Had an enlightening conversation with a pair of 14 yr old girls from Australia and a 16 yr old guy from Detroit.

Oh, suuuure it was a 14 year old girl. It was probably a 50 year old guy who looks like Ed Asner with a thyroid condition. ;)
Given the frightening number of adults who are into Disney and so forth, I wouldn't be surprised if there were lots playing Furcadia. But it's good to see that not everyone is as perverse as I thought.
