It's not just a good movie, it's a great movie. It's really funny and has this very stylized look that works. It's very obviously inspired by Willy Wonka, and there are some direct references to that film.
I wish they hadn't used the electrical gum to solve so many problems, but other than that I highly recommend Spy Kids to anyone who isn't freaked out that it's a kid's movie.

Other than the fact that the once spectacular Carla Gugino has fallen victim to the Hollywood "starvation look," it's worth watching.
