And it's excellent! It's got some flaws, but what the Hell, not every movie can be the Warriors. The good parts are frequent, spread evenly throughout its three hour running time, and usually really, really good.

My girlfriend Diana has about as much tolerance for three hours of elves as Geryk, and she enjoyed it thoroughly. She's not shy about giving up on a movie and just going to sleep in her seat, but she stayed awake and alert through all of Fellowship. For comparison purposes, she sacked out about twelve minutes into the Phantom Menace.

Where the hell did you go? Aren't you somewhere North of Alaska or something? Buried under 50' of snow with a giant statue of Paul Bunyan leering at you? A place replete with charming and pregnant police officers trying vainly to stop Japanese women frantically digging and scrabbling under fence posts and with people using chipper/shredders in unwholesome ways? Why do you have it near your house and yet it isn't here in Milwaukee (Mecca of the midwest and home of the Violent Femmes)?

I think Erik got to go early because he pulled a little caper by getting Chet to pretend he was dying of some horrible exotic disease that only affects small, urban, second born sons of bakers -- and might not survive the extra week before the movie's release. In sympathy, Erik and Chet got to see the film early, except they had to watch it from a hospital bed while Chet wallowed in mire. Strange that Erik's calling Chet "Diane" now, however. Good scam though.

That's a good guess, but I actually saw it at a benefit screening in Minneapolis (which is about 3 hours away from where I live).

They fucked up Lothlorien (elvish sp) a little, but other than that and some other complaints, I have no complaints.
