Uh... guys? Have you seen this? I imagine you're privy to the inside info here and are already looking around if this is the case. I'm blown away... GC Alliance seemed to have a good crop of sites coming under their wing.

Oh yeah, we know. We were told yesterday. It was a budget decision on CNET's part.
If it was easy to sell web ads, there'd be no problem.

So... what does this mean for the future of Qt3? Asher and Chick finally team up and then their host goes bye-bye? Who will spin my news? Who will shoot my club?

Heh -- we're going to try to keep it going. We may just follow Thresh around and see if some of his $11 million in venture capital falls out of his pockets. :)
This just happened, so I'm not sure what our options are. We'll see. We have the rest of this month before the network is actually dissolved.

Mark,
I'm not sure how much it would cost for you and Tom to run Q23 by yourselves, but I can't imagine the actual overhead cost is insurmountable. I think you'd be able to keep it going cheaply if you could just find a host.
Then the real question becomes whether or not you two want to put out all the effort for a free site that isn't yet making money...and I have to think that as fun as it is, without the GC help, it is a lot of manual work (as most web sites are).
In any event, I think the quality here is high enough that you'll probably be able to find a new sponsor.

I know this might seem like an oddball suggestion but why not speak to one of the smaller sites and ask to become an affiliate - eg. SimHQ, FrugalsWorld, or maybe DogFighter. You could become an offshoot of one of these websites and maintain your current theme.

I hate to sound like some corporate dummy, but we're exploring opportunities. There are a lot of different models out there. One I don't want to do is efront, which Something Awful and Penny Arcade went with. They had to sell their sites to the company and the guys get a salary based on traffic with some stock options.
