Yhea i wish. It would make my search alot easier. Ill be going into my senior year in High School in the fall and i have no idea where i want to go to college. Ive know that i wanted to make games since i was 9 playing WarCraft 2. I assume ill be majoring in Computer Scinece and/or Software Deveolpment. What factors go into selecting a college for such a job? I have good grades and scores (maybe not ivy leauge good) despite my desires my finiancal situtaion (or lack there of) will probaly restrict me to the northeast.

I would greatly apreciate it if anyone could tell me what developers are looking for in an education
Or point me to any resourses available for high-tech schools.

Check out this story. There is a college for game design.

Also, from what I've read, it really helps to have something you've made, a sample game or some nice mods, when you go to look for a job.

And if you have any graphic ability that you can combine with programming, that will help too.

Stark State here in Canton also offers a game design course. Interactive Multimedia or something. It's basically game design, with programming, 3D Modeling, and level design in the mix.

Personally, I think all designers need to have some technical understanding as well. There was a nice article in Game Developer a couple months back about designer/programmers. The other problems is that very few places will hire straight into design positions. Oh, I suppose my advice would be to try and get a subscription to Game Developer. You can do that via a student IGDA membership, etc.
