Is anyone sick of X-10 pop-up advertisements?

alternatively use Pop-Up Stopper from Panicware.com, AFAIK it only works in IE, but it's free and works like a charm.

I am sick of them also. The ads are odd in a way. They usually have an attractive woman in the ad and it seems to imply there is something you can do with the miniature camera and a woman. Anyone want to guess what they are implying? Or is my mind a little too far in the gutter?

I would identify more with the ad more if it included the picture of a baby/child since you could use the camera to watch your child while you are at your PC and they are sleeping or playing.

Exactly David,
That's why I find that particular ad so odious. Their trying to sell to the "American Pie" audience, and parents, alike.

You can also edit your lmhost table to have that server address point to something useful. :)

What's the syntax for that?

Totally agree. They've been pandering to lechers since mid-1999. I was appalled at the first ad I saw like this (on ZDNET somewhere, I think PCMAG), so much so that I sent a screencapture to a colleague of mine at the time.

Those ads must have worked like gangbusters because now I see them everywhere. Sheehs.

With American Pie as an advertising vehicle, it's no wonder...

I read an article that stated that the traffic to their website increased dramatically after they started running the ads. I'm sure some people were pissed off and going there to complain, but the ads have worked.

They have an intriguing product that's cheap and panders to our salacious side. I'm not surprised that the ads have worked.

They have a new ad out today that goes more for the home security angle. There's even a picture of a little baby in the ad. Maybe they have been reading the QT3 messageboards.

Probably just better targeting.
The unsuspecting lady angle is probably still in use at the skin sites.

Appropriately enough, I got the X-10 pop-up ad when visiting that site. You know, the one that says "Quit spying on people!" with the picture of the half-naked girl (okay, from behind) and lists all the "better" used for the camera.

(What could possibly be better than spying on unsuspecting half-naked girls from behind?) ;-)

Yes, that's a joke.
