Is anyone on this board going to purchase AO tomorrow? I have been following the AO forums for a month or so, and it seems like Funcom's beta will have cleared up a lot of issues that dogged WW2OL right from the start. I'm looking forward to the graphics (so sweet looking), and the chance to play something that seems to be a cross between Logan's Run, Blade Runner, 1984, Star Wars and Aliens. Maybe I'll see you there.

ps. Anyone remember the pen and paper sci-fi game Traveller? Boy, that was the most flavorless game ever. All our games ended up with everyone getting sucked out an airlock.

I'm going to be getting into AO, I think, but certainly not on launch day. Figure I'll wait a couple of weeks before I buy and install; why waste half my free month while the servers bob up and down and it gets patched daily?
Provided, of course, it launches like nearly every single other MMORPG, like, ever. I do want to play it, though, and I have every intention of doing so. And I hate to wait--but I'm going to.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the huge dissapointment awaiting everyone tomorrow. I got into WW2OL about 4 days after release, and it was just a joke having to wait 30 minutes before I could even get on, and then my guy was moving at less than 1 fps.
However, I have Thursday during the day entirely to myself (no work, no g/f, no errands), and I recently installed an air conditioner in my computer room. I'll give AO a whirl then, because I'll probably not be able to play more than once a week after that. I'll give you my impressions Thursday night (for instance: I still can't get on).

I played in the beta thanks to Jason but I wasn't blown away. It was neat, better than EQ for sure in terms of graphics and a lot of the little things they did (private quests etc.). And downtime is not nearly as much. I am still going to wait it out on this one and see what else comes along. I am in no hurry to be sucked back into a MMORPG. :)

Im giving AO a month or two to iron out the major bugs... so I give it about an August buy for me. If I hear WW2Online becomes stable (if ever!), I might consider buying that as well. Its just that if I'm paying monthly for a game i'd like it to be playable whenever I want.

I'm playing Diable today. AO is utterly unplayable as is. WW2OL is very playable now, but they haven't delivered on the one world promise, and there aren't enough people around to shoot on a monday morning/afternoon (God bless vacation).
