It's just like the VCR. We invent the boy-band, and other countries PERFECT it! I bet they do it faster and cheaper, too.

I believe the Monkee's were the first manufactured boy band. And they were simply Frankenstein-Beatles, weren't they?
Good God! This clip is great!... Jim, can it be downloaded?

Davy Jones is British, but weren't the rest American?
By Jeff Lackey (Jeff_lackey) on Monday, June 25, 2001 - 05:10 pm:
Yep. Davy Jones was the Paul McCartney analog (cute, lead singer.) As someone said, the band was hand selected for TV, with each member chosen for some specific characteristics.

Bub,
I'll work on snatching it tomorrow night. Too late for that kinda fun right now. I thought you'd dig it, and it's a return favor for the Phatboy Walken clip. :-)

"it's a return favor for the Phatboy Walken clip."
I'd also like a good solid clear downloadable version of that!
I can't stand this streaming stuff... is not a video an advertisement of a sort?

These are not small files.
I pulled a copy of the Tunak video from Shacknews back in February. It is 6.27MB.
I also got a copy of the Walken clip from Usenet, weighing in at a nice 37.7 MB MPEG. There is one little blip near the beginning, but other than that it is fine.

Dang, forgot to link Dahler Mehndi's site, The Bhangra King.
By Howie on Tuesday, June 26, 2001 - 08:23 am:
Yes it can be downloaded :)
the .ram file is a simple text file that tells RealPlayer where to look for the proper file.
The file in this case is
"www.airtoons.com/music/05-Daler_Mehndi-Tunak_Tunak_Tun_high.rm"
alternatively you could search out a copy of Streambox vcr..

I don't think the Monkees count as a "boy band", rather they are a manufatured regular band. The Monkees at least pretented to play instruments, which is more than you can say about today's "boy bands".

I'm thinking Erik, Tom, Bub, and Bob. Get 'em some Abercrombie and Fitch dudz and do a video. We could dub in music and lyrics later. We could "borrow" some booth chicks at next year's show for "skin talent".
"I like girls who work the E3 show
They're the kind I'd like to know
I'm a gamer, I'm a gamer...
Diakatana sucked a lot of dick
Elite Force was over too quick
what the hell, who am I to bitch,
Cuz I write reviews and get real rich
I like girls who work the E3 show
They're the kind I'd like to know
I'm a gamer, I'm a gamer...
To myself I once made love
Wearing a Nintendo power glove
Got the power up, won the game
But the ending cutscene was F-ing lame
I like girls who..."
