After the discussion about Virtua Tennis in another thread (I really don't feel like looking it up), I decided to play a couple rounds. I love the game, but one thing really bothers me. Is it even possible to get an ace against the computer? Granted, it may just be the fact that I play on Very Hard, but I've yet to get an ace.

Hmm... I don't know that I've gotten one on Very Hard. The game gets hard enough in the career mode once you get to the later matches. =)

Yeah, I've beaten every match possible heh. The last one against Master and King on Very Hard is pretty damn tough. The training modes are getting on my nerves, though--I've beaten all of them, but to get the last 8 uniforms, you have to beat them in a certain amount of time... and I haven't been able to.

Aces are virtua impossible (har, I crack myself up). I have seen them, but only with the King and Master players that you unlock by becoming #1 in the world. Whichever player has a strong serve as his characteristic could probably do it, too, but I usually opt for speed instead.

Here's a scrapbook page my wife did of my brother and I playing Virtua Tennis. He's the one that unlocked the King & Master players, so I'm definitely the weakest link in that picture.

Heh... I haven't bothered to pick up Master, mainly because I don't play the arcade mode all that much. I use Tommy Haas as my main guy (gotta respect the name, plus he's a kraut like myself) and Singth as my partner. If I could, I'd use Master as my doubles partner, but you can't use him in the world circuit :\

Anyone else try that Frenchie computer Tennis Game Demo Roland LePew 2001 or something like that over at Avault's demo page?

I did. Man, Virtua Tennis is so much better. I hope Sega ports it to the GameBoy Advance one day.

I'm really looking forward to the Virtua Tennis sequel this Fall. Female players, mixed doubles and supposedly a bit more "realism", whatever that means. The name is now Sega Sports Tennis 2K2. I think those crazy Williams sisters will be promoting/promoted with it.

I've hit some Aces on lower levels, but Very Hard? Yowch...I doubt it's doable. You crank it up, you play out the point. :)

Virtua Tennis is fun by yourself, but it takes on a whole new meaning of fun with four players playing doubles. Anyone with a Dreamcast reading this that hasn't yet gotten the game should know it's on sale at Best Buy this week for $14.99 and is normally $19.99. A steal at any price.

Yeah, that's why it'd be a natural on the new handheld. Link cable supports up to four people with a single cartridge.
