Its nice n all to hear that some families get a little warm with EQ... but i kind of find it disturbing if its there only means of commonicating... one of my friends from my old job barely does anything becuase of EQ. I'm a little weary of hearing "good" news of EQ, when my friend would rather play EQ even if me and some other friends offer free beers at a local bar! and we even offer to drive as well! hmm maybe he hates us... but i know he plays way too much EQ now... and the funny thing is he just started playing like in October and he already has 2 chars over level 40! sheesh.

btw Mark, what server do you play on? i used to play on Veeshan (a few of my friends took over my account...).

etc

Hehe, my girlfriend and I both play EQ, which is a great arrangement when living together. Luckily it doesn't run our lives like it seems to with some people. We play it as a hobby that we can do together. Maybe a few hours every other day, sometimes only on weekends. Now that it's Spring we're spending a lot less time playing and more time taking my nephew to the zoo, etc.

Once EQ stops being a game and turns into an obsession, it's time for an intervention. The game is seriously the EverCrack syndrome for some people. They stop eating, they stop being social, they basically stop living their real lives in favor of their virtual lives. Kind of sad, really.

Now I better wrap this up so I can go camp Skyshrine to finish off my set of Guardian armor. If I don't get that breastplate tonight I'm going to jump off a building screaming "Verant sucks!" all the way down. (hehe, j/k)

I got this one guy into EQ and he is obsessed. He has multiple high level characters and has spent thousands of dollars on extra character accounts. He didn't have much of a social life before from what I understand (he lives halfway across the country) now he has no social life and no chance for one. I left the game after 10 months due to reasons I listed in previous posts but I feel kinda bad that I convinced him to play and now he is hooked.

You can't feel bad. With all the publicity the game is getting, he is bound to have found it sooner or later. You're not responsible for his obsession, at any rate.
