If you haven't checked out the trailer that Mark posted at 3AM, you should. It actually looks like a pretty good movie. The description of a female Indiana Jones doesn't look like it's too far off.

And Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft? Wow. Really, wow.

I dunno Murphy,
Giant robots. Skeletons. Power of life. Time travel. Voight attempting an English accent. Whoopie.

I'm hoping for a T. Rex myself, but I can't imagine seeing it until its on video.

Granted, some of it seems a little on the cheesy side. The robot and the little stone creatures made me uneasy, too. But it looked pretty good. It seems to have a little more plot than I expected, though, and looks like it might be decent. (Well, except for Voight attempting the English accent. We'll all have to plug our ears for that.) Still, I think it looks promising.

Then again, it's usually the best parts of the movie that make the trailer, so, maybe I should rethink that.

It looked really cheesy to me, but I've never actually played any of the games, so maybe that's why. The part with the robot jumping on top of Lara looked really dumb, shouldn't the thing be able to just rip her head right off?

I tried watching the trailer a second time just now, and the stream was terrible, when it was perfectly smooth this morning. I guess word gets out really fast... *sigh* Oh well.

That's my feeling about Angelina Jolie as Pretty Damn Much Anything. Too bad she's ended up in some really crap movies. I mean, if you see Gia or Girl, Interrupted you can see that she has a heckuva lot of acting talent. But then she's in crap like Pushing Tin and Gone in 60 Seconds. Bah!

The movie looks like typical Dumb Vapid Simon West Faire. It's like Con Air. It *COULD* be a good flick, but you know it isn't going to be. It's going to be Dumb, and have great action. Could be worse, I guess. Could be a Jerry Suckheimer film. He hasn't done anything decent since The Rock.

I liked Con Air!

Maybe I'm more forgiving than most. It takes a really bad movie for me to not like it, maybe. I dunno, but I thought the trailer looked interesting. A little, cheesy, sure, but then...I enjoyed Charlie's Angels.

Thanks. It probably didn't really need commenting on...

How can anyone say bad things about a movie with Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz? I mean, really, people!

Cameron Diaz does absolutely nothing for me. She annoys me. Something about her just exudes selfish bitchiness...I don't know why. Lucy Liu was more of a reason to see Charlie's Angels to me. Of course, I still didn't go see it, so I guess it wasn't THAT big a draw.

Plus, Drew Barrymore is turning into a pretty good movie producer.

I'm embarassed to admit this, but I thought Never Been Kissed was a great movie. Very heartfelt.

I'm extremely fond of Drew Barrymore. Despite her jaded past, in recent years I'm starting to like her more and more as an actress, and I agree that she's a pretty good producer. (Don't worry Wumpus -- we have Never Been Kissed, The Wedding Singer, and Charlie's Angels on DVD. My wife really wanted the first two more than me, but I didn't object, and we both wanted Angels.)

Jason, I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Cameron Diaz, save the fact that she plays basically the same role in every movie. I've always heard that she was very nice, though. I'd never seen Lucy Liu in anything until this movie, but she seems pretty cool.

Really, it's not a bad movie, especially if you're not expecting a serious one. It's very light and fun.

With the giant head, giant mouth, and thin hair, she looks like Pac Man. Wakawakawakawakawaka.

Heheheheh. her and Julia Roberts with the muppet head-- eg, it's all mouth!

Diaz did look good in the Mask for some reason, though.
