Having now played Red Alert 2 far too much I have to say that there is little real substance behind this title.
Once you have beaten the 24 campaign missions on each side you are left with Skirmish's. Skirmish follows a typical pattern :
1. Play with Super Weapons enabled and destroy the enemies super weapons as soon as possible.
2. Play without Super Weapons and simply build up enough forces for the inevitable tank/air/soldier rush.
There really is no finesse to the enemy AI. You can of course set a higher difficulty level but then you are faced with a computer opponent who is able to do everything at once. The awful screen scrolling in Red Alert 2 certainly doesn't help the human player at a high level of difficulty.
One thing I have noted after playing RA2 is just how good StarCraft and Total Annihilation were. It is a shame Westwood has gone for the sawmill approach to designing games rather than attempt anything really innovative.

Apparently everything they've done since C&C has been filler as they've been working on this MMORPG Earth and Beyond for years now.
Oh well, I'm looking forward to Renegade, though I don't know why.

Another sad victim of Yuri's mind control.

MMmmm. I'm still completely addicted to RA2. I can't put the game game down.
Yeah skirmish mode only allows for so much, but multiplayer with friends is fun.
Now if the damned editor was as easy as Starcraft...

I just got my copy this week, and definitely love it. The graphics bothered me at first, but I think that's just because it was so different than the original. Maybe I just don't deal well with change. But once I got past that, I have really enjoyed the overall feel of the game. Can't wait to hit that with some of the guys...
