Sorry for the somewhat cryptic subject but this great little game deserves a status update. Hardwar was released in 1998 by Gremlin and the developers - www.softwarerefinery.com - are still busy working away at updates to this three year old title.
The latest update - U201 - adds a stack of features and bug fixes and they have updated many of the graphics in the game.
Hardwar was a mix of Elite-style space trading and fighting set on a planet. It is amazingly playable even now.
Software Refinery will be releasing another update - U202 - shortly which will add more features inclduing the ability to ride the monorail system in the game.
Great stuff !

I remember this game. I played it briefly and enjoyed it, but never got back to it. It was pretty cool.
It was really hard to find, though. Interplay sold it for $15 and it just didn't seem to be stocked in most stores.
It's amazing that they're still patching in new features after all this time. It's obviously a labor of love at this point.
Like Sean says, it's a bit like Elite, or Privateer, which would be my comparison. Hey Tom, this could be a retroview candidate.

Sean, if you wanted to write an Early Hours with the newly patched Hardwars, we'd be happy to post it.
