This is another for the could-have-come-from-the-onion archives.

I personally would have gone for the two gay cowboys.

And people can sit back and say that computer games aren't art?

I love it. The guy makes fun of the competition and wins.

I'm sorry, but he only submits one entry, and that entry is a bare room with a flashing lightbulb? He had to be joking. Either that, or next year I'm submitting "Empty appartment filled with packed boxes. Small pee stains from cat on carpet".

How anyone considers any of those entries "art" is beyond me. At least the gay cowboy and drunken tea drinker things could be contributed to student art. The other entries? Well, I could do that with $5 and a floor polisher.

Gotta love a world where a pile of refuse (literally a heap of garbage) with a velvet rope around it and a title plaque is art, but a videogame ain't.

God I hat that kind of thing. I get the feeling the "art" world is populated more and more by people without the natural talent for proper art, but who are enamoured of the lifestyle. Pulling stuff out of their ass and pretending it's art and basically pulling a con job to find financial support.

Hey, don't forget one of the previous winners, the elephant dung paintings. That's right, painting with elephant poop. You can't really get more cutting edge artsy than that.

Elephant poop = art.
Civilization 3 = not art.

Now I get it.

Really! What next, some guy painting broad colors on a canvas, and then illuminating it with very specific directional lighting techniques to evoke certain moods? That's not what I call art! What about Red Alert?

Next thing you know, some jackass will be splattering paint all over canvases and then becoming one of those most reknowned painters! And also the paintings will be great! That's not art! What about Lemmings Paintball?

Elephant Dung indeed! Those things look like good paintings! Who cares if there is a specific cultural reason he used poop as a medium, which may or may not secondarily include a need to generate a good deal of hype to get his work shown, it's not art! Not like Turok: Dinosaur Hunter!
