Since reading the "X-com Cthulu" thread, I started kicking around an idea once again that I've had for a good while now...
I (and many others) have a Compaq iPaq handheld. I'd really like some good games for it, and I REALLY loved X-com. So, how about this:
X-com ran at 320x240, my iPaq runs at 320x240. X-com required a 486 and my iPaq has a 206mhz processor. X-com used a completely mouse-driven iconic interface and would work just fine with a stylus. I'd gladly come off $50 all over again to play that game portably. It's perfect for the platform, and the graphics would look just fine on that small screen.
PLEASE OH PLEASE?!

God that's a wonderfully sick idea.
At least it would give me something to do during meetings.

The trick, of course, is prying the license out of Microprose's cold, dead hands.
Of course, you might be able to get away with calling it "UFO Defense." Hmmm....

I guess the Rube Goldberg way around the problem would be for someone to write Sound Blaster and DOS emulators for Windows CE. Then you could run all dat ol' shit on tha iPaq.
