I've been following this game for a long time and I just cannot wait any longer. Has anyone heard any updates on their trouble finding a publisher?

Some people have said the reason they can't find a publisher is because "maybe the game's not that good." I for one do not believe that.

Wizardry 8 and Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (If ES:M is even released in 2001, though I seriously doubt it) are going to be the only great, singplayer-only RPGs released in 2001, and I would hate to see it delayed because of this.

*I just woke up so forgive my incoherent sentences and grammar. =p

I haven't really been following Sirtech's fortunes lately. I know they had problems finding a publisher for the JA2 add-on. The rumor is that they want a better deal for their games than most publishers are willing to give.

I don't think Wiz 8 is ready to go now regardless.

Boy, I have to disagree with you here. Neither of us can predict with certitude whether an unreleased RPG will be great, but I'm betting that Arcanum, Neverwinter Nights, and Pool of Radiance II will each be better than either Wiz 8 or Morrowind.

Wizardry 8 loses out big time for me in that it promises to be another M&M/W&W style first-person POV hackfest. Even circa 1983, when I was playing the original Wizardry, that simplistic model of a multi-chracter party bugged the heck out of me. In first-person RPGs, it's as if the party is just one entity with a dozen arms and legs, wielding weapons and throwing spells like some hybrid, Kali-esque monster. I've always hated those kind of RPGs -- I want my characters to be individuals in the game world, whose movement and positioning has tactical relevance in battle.

And while we can't predict whether our hopes for best RPG will pan out, I can tell you one thing to a near certainty about Morrowind: it will be buggy as hell. Bethesda has never released a game that had more cheese than holes out of the box.

So I'm betting on some other horses, I guess. I wonder what the odds would be...

I dunno, I'm hoping for Morrowind. Despite an insane number of bugs I liked Daggerfall. I'm kind of tired of games that lack first-person 3D and force me to play a particular storyline... If I want a story, I'll read a book. The writing is better. (Torment was pretty good, though.)

Qenan, who is feeling that EQ jones starting to kick in... Go Dark Age of Camelot!

but i like multi-headed parties (though i wish we can see them in the game ala VtR)! wizardry 8 looks to be cool though (based on the in-game movie i've seen). watching it i get a feeling of playing a souped-up solo version of Everquest. . . the graphics look that good in Wiz 8.

etc

Notice I said "Single Player-only". It's already been stated that Morrowind will have no multiplayer options, and I'm guessing neither will Wizardy 8 - it just wouldn't fit. However, Neverwinter Nights is being slated as mainly a multiplayer RPG.

I don't mean to rant here, but I'm getting really sick of these isometric and 3rd person RPGs. IN MY OPINION, they aren't as immersive as some of the old schoolers: Might and Magic, Eye of the Beholder, Ultima Underworld, Wizardy, etc.

Graphics do not matter and, in some cases, neither does the story. It's about connecting with your character, not running Fed-Ex quests, a la BGII (Though I will admit some of the music in BGII is quite inspiring). To be honest, I prefer a good MUD to most of the D&D CRPGs out today.

Oh, and Qenen I agree; Dark Age of Camelot is going to be great.

first person (be it solo or in a party) is my preferred choice blend of RPG! as they say its much more immerisive (imho of course).. . . hell i remember jumping in my seat from fear in the first wizardry and everything was plain ole lines as walls!

thing with Morrowind is that if they make it easy to customize, we could have a gaeworld much bigger than the game released.

morrowind looks to be cool. though i think random dungeons would have been cool as long as they kept em navigatable (whereas in Daggerfall it was basically like one hunk of MAZES). my only fear with Morrowind is that it becomes a U9. . . without bugs (which actually isn't bad).

wiz 8 will be the game that ppl expected of WW...though i though WW was great despite its problems.

etc
