I've been playing the demo, and actually enjoying it quite a bit. It seems to have the pacing needed to support using tactics and some strategy. I've read the reviews, and they seem pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone here has given it a go. I especially like forming up various carrier and dreadnought fleets led by an admiral, and then fighting for beachheads through wormholes. Anyone else?

I played the demo, and it seemed -- well, a neat idea, but lacking. I wrote up a review of the demo over at Playnet, summing up my thoughts, but don't know how the full version compares.

You can read my thoughts of the demo here. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't buy the game based on my time with it.

And it seemed hard, to me -- the easy and medium difficulty settings seemed a little harder than I would have expected. And I though four resources might be a bit much.

That about sums up my opinions.

I was surprised with how much fun I had with the demo, actually. Seems very polished in terms of gameplay, kind of like Starcraft (!) but with some new ideas and features.

Haven't purchased the retail version because I'm currently overloaded with other games I have to play :), although I would certainly consider it. (And compared to what I thought going into the demo, that's almost a complete 180. I thought I was downloading a 'train wreck', based on what I had read and heard about it.)

Based on my time with the demo, it's pretty good. Looks good, plays good...has some excellent concessions to strategy and tactics over mouse skills. I was pretty impressed.

I still love real-time strategy games. Those that aren't big on them aren't going to become genre lovers by playing Conquest, but if you enjoy this genre, I think it's easily worth spending some time with the demo at least.

There is an extensive thread on the Gone Gold forums discussing the game with one of the designers.

I picked it up last week. Fun so far, but haven't spent enough time with it to make any decisions for myself.

I agree that it is really hard. I've haven't been able to win yet (it might be the thing that keeps me playing though).

Have not played the demo for over a month. I thought like micheal said it was "command and conquer in space" I think you guys are really fullying yourselves as far as strategy and tactics go I shudder to think at how lame multiplay will be. (limitless resources)

As for beating it you have to boom at the begining dont worry they dont send anything for awhile. build like half a dozen harvesters then start getting mining on mining planets and get acedemies on the rest. Cant remember the exact times the computer starts attacking but basicly you grab up a few sectors wait for the attack then take one sector after another useing pretty much the same system.

It's funny; when the demo released, it wasn't widely liked around here. Yet, now, most people seem to like the game...

The thread was entitled "Turkey" and was under the "News" topic. (I'd post a link, but I'm too lazy.) Read that to get lots of opinions on the demo, that people might not care to re-state.

(limitless resources)

What's so fundamentally wrong with limitless resources? I've often seen people pull that out as some reason not to like an RTS game. Limitless resources allow a victor to always be decided. With limited ones you can often have a stalemate between two evenly matched players. Where's the fun in that?

I'm genuinely curious...what's the big deal?

Also...what the heck is fullying myself?

I've been fullying myself for years, and yet I'm still not full.

I heard you can go blind from fullying yourself.

Hmmm, I'm having trouble reading that last post.
