Nice to see your brief review of EU. I buy few games the first week of their release, but I bought this one based on strong word-of-mouth from Europe.

This title did not disappoint. Even though the AI is no wizard, and victory is very easy with any of the major powers, a little editing makes the minor powers playable, opening whole new worlds of alternate history and frenzied game play.

The success and popularity of this title has made me wonder about the state of "grand historical strategy games" in general. The big selling drag/click/gather RTS has come to dominate the strategy genre to the point that map based strategy games like Risk, the old KOEI classics, EU and the ancient Medieval Lords almost stand on their own outside of the RTS and Civ style strategy games.

The good news is that Paradox has had so much success with this title that they have begun work on another historical game with a similar engine and are choosing the period based on a poll of EU players. This is yet another example of Paradox's committment to player input - their EU forum is model of designer and player interaction.

Damn, I wont be able to play these all...oh well you only live once i say. OH yay.

Geo: It's a bargain. Compuexpert spams you with ads and promotions. If you don't mind that, 9.99 is a great deal - even with the 10 buck S+H.

Nah, spam is the dozen porno/enlargement emails I get on my Hotmail account everday, most from @msn.com addresses. I get so many I've overwhelmed the "block" limit" on my account. :)
