"Legends is a multiplayer-only game for up to 16 players over the Internet or a LAN. It's a class-based game, a fantasy variant of games like Team Fortress, Tribes, and Counter-Strike. There are two teams, Good and Evil, and six character classes, but only three available to each team. The Sorcereress (good) and Archer (evil) have long-range attacks but poor melee skills. Druids (good) and Heretics (evil) have medium-ranged attacks and decent melee abilities, while Paladins (good) and the Warrior (evil) are great at melee but have poor ranged attacks."

So, does this game sound interesting or is it a miss?

Speaking only for myself, yuck.

Yuck, eh? Heh.

Are you a big RPG fan? I can see how an RPG fan might be a bit put out by this title.

I'm hopeful, but not overly so.

the graphics look real nice. though no bots is pretty dumb. i rarely play online fps anymore, so what would be my reason to buy this game if i cant play it against the pc? even UT and Q3 have bots. oh well. . . still i'll probably buy the game. . .im a sucker for fantasy

but just imagine a might and magic game with the screenshots from legends . . . aye, mm9 could be great, if its even being made that is.

etc

MM9 is being made. It may be called something else, but it's in the works and it should be out this year.

what im concerned about is the near dead silence about mm9. why is that? not even one preview. thats my only concern, otherwise mm9 with lithtech will be cool.

3DO is also working on HOMM4 right now. The reason why you're not hearing anything is because they have decided to not hype the games until 6 months before they come out. I know that 3DO has been talking to the magazines so you'll see an exclusive preview sometime soon.

We have five new screens in the Legends preview. There was a mixup and the screens we posted weren't exclusive. These new ones are supposed to be exclusive.

The people responsible for the sacking have been sacked?

I like this idea. I like fantasy combat, I liked Siege (an old Mindcraft title), and I like Counterstrike. My only worry is 3DO's involvement. I will believe they can pull this off when I see it, but I'm hoping they make a liar out of me. If Monolith can come up with NOLF...

Wasn't there a mod for Quake 1 or Heretic or something that did this sort of thing? A castle attack or somesuch?

The really stupid thing about the new screens is that they turned out to be recycled too. 3DO assured me both times that they were exclusives. That's the first time something like that has happened to me, and it happened twice in a row.

And the only reason why I even care is that the news portals like Blues News won't link to our previews unless we have new screens. For some reason our previews are not worthy of mention without exclusive screens. I know they're short, but when I read some of the 1500 words previews on the net, brevity is a blessing.

I must say I'm very dissapointed. I was looking forward to finaly see a M&M rpg with great graphics. Now it's a multiplayer only game (I dislike multiplayer only games very much to put it mildly) It's very simple for me NO BOTS NO GAME. I hardly ever play over the internet mostly over a small LAN with 4 players max so bots are essential.

They will have AI controlled monsters you can fight offline for practice.

Also, M&M9 is being worked on and should be out this year.

if 3do, or any pc developer for that matter, took a look at Phantasy Star Online, they might know that coop play still has a presence. its kinda odd that they stuck with online team play ala TF only. i think the original concept of coop play was good if it was done well.

Co-op play means you have to build a single-player game more or less. Something like this has to be easier to do. 3DO shoots for a twelve-month development cycle now.

Now this could be a really good idea for co-op play. Hey guys, let's go slay that dragon! I suppose you can do this in Evercrack & such, but the little I have seen of "combat" in EQ bored me to tears. Mix in some more FPS action, and I'm there.
